Looking back at Sennin
Since making this site there was a photo set that I’ve always wanted to put up that was one of my favorites, the 仙人 (sennin) set. If you’re new to my page or have never seen these images it’s because I actually lost them on my old hard drive and … well I finally found it and wanted to revisit this impromptu shoot.
I was in Kamakura city with Chris ( DotDecor ) for an upcoming shoot that I had planned to do for a kimono shoot. The day was going great and I had some ideas for locations. It was an all around good day to hang out with my homie and take pictures. After all the scouting around we decided to go to Starbucks to sit down and relax. As we walked in we saw him.
Usually when you think of an older Japanese guy this is NOT the image. Long hair, long beard… he looked like a mountain hermit but with freshly pressed clothes, and an aura that was just…. chill. After staring at him for 10 minuets I finally got up the never to ask him in Japanese if it would be ok to take his picture. He smiled and said yes. I told him to just do what he was doing, relax, drink his coffee and I’d make it work.
I love this set so much I can’t even tell you guys. He was chill, relaxed and stylish. Where ever he is I hope he’s doing well. I made photo prints of the images and brought them to the starbucks for the staff to give to him if he returned. I will NEVER forget this image set.
Photography is about capturing moments in life.
