SCOOTERS [a bit of exercise]

Lately I’ve been thinking about ways to improve my story telling and putting together better ideas for a sense of theme with some of the things I’ve done. Sure, doing sets leads themselves into a common theme but I thought why not do it with street where things just kinda come at you and happen on the spot. Is there a way to find commonality with random things just walking home? Enter the scooters…

A collage of images from a simple walk home.

So above is the collage of images some are re arranged or cropped to fit more into this piece as not to repeat the same ideas although a couple of the images are similar. The idea was to just walk home… not to stop and overly think of how to frame it or make something totally tell the story and stand on it’s own, but more to be in the moment and snap the image. If there was something that I could work with I’d put it together later. Japan has a lot of scooters so it was a pretty easy thing to pick up and merge.

This was really just a kind of practice / training exercise for myself to not only shoot what was in front of me and in the moment but also to think about how to put similar objects together to work in a singular collage type piece. Moving forward I’d like to do more exercises and challenges for myself to look at different things or people or whatever and see how I’d put them together for different reasons.

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love light and shadows. Images that have strong shadows just talk to me. It’s really hard to explain but when I see something like this I just HAVE TO shoot it… I can’t explain it.

I’d love to go out with other photog friends and challenge each other to go out and create some stories with things that intertwine or mix to give a story of what went on on that day. It would just be nice to try and experiment, have fun, and let our images speak for how we feel, what we see and just this crazy 2020. If you haven’t seen my Instagram I’ll link it below I have accounts I’m working on the first: @TDKONKARA_Photo which I’ve been using for a while to post a mix of whatever from studio, location, business trips and even home photos / video. Last week I made @ShiestyShots [be sure to follow and support that account as well] and I plan on trying to keep these images a bit more organized than the other account. I went back and deleted a bunch of pics from TDKonkara_Photo Mostly because they felt out of place. Either way, If you’d like to see more of my stuff you can find a more frequent update of what I’m working on there. Some experimental, some work and some play… All me!

The crop in the collage cuts off the two mirrors. The collage focuses more on the shadows on the wall which for me, made this shot so much different from the detail shot of the speedometer image.
