Tourist Time Adventures with Lucien pt.1

Lucien's first time in Japan and getting a look at Yokohama.

ルシエンさんの日本初旅で横浜の有名スポットを紹介した。

With spring upon us and the Japanese yen being as weak as it is, many tourists are visiting the country and having a good time. Years ago, if you didn’t know, I took a bit of a break from photography to learn a bit more about Youtube. I grew up playing video games and I still do, but thought why not do a gaming youtube channel? It actually went pretty well, and I had fun with it. The jump from photography to youtube honestly isn’t that hard but back then a lot of the resources that we have today weren’t there. The one thing that many of my gaming youtube subscribers asked me about was streaming. Now we have Instagram live, Youtube has a streaming service and there are lots more now, but back then the king was Twitch. I dabbled with twitch but spent a lot more time on the now dead Microsoft Mixer platform. While Mixer didn’t really push things forward for me in that arena, I did make some good friends and connections with cool people.

Fast forward to 2024 one of the guys that I new from my streaming days messaged me after I liked one of his pics in Kyoto because he ‘remembered’ that I was in the Kanto, Tokyo/Yokohama area. He was coming this way and we decided to meet up and I wanted to give him a bit of a tour of Yokohama. Here is where our Tourist Time Adventure begins.

On our way to Yokohama Bay Quarter I took a shot of a family out enjoying the weather and playing along the river.

Just a brief intro, Lucien came to Japan from the Netherlands and he lives out there. I’ve never been there but he says there are lots of people from many different places there so it may be a place to check out and maybe have my own tourist time adventure in. The weather was beautiful and it was good to get some sun. The past couple of weeks it was cold and rainy so it was good to finally wear shorts and get some fresh air.

We had brunch at a local restaurant in the Bay Quarter shopping mall called, Urth caffe. I’ve already posted some of the pictures from this meet up on my Instagram so if you haven’t seen it there you can check it out and shoot me a follow. So while we were there I and a pretty nice chicken sandwich, which I have to say was pretty good, and we took in the sun and talked about the differences of life in Japan and the Netherlands.

All and all it was a good time and we had fun. The next part of the day I can’t really discuss because of privacy reasons with the shop that we went to next.

In the next post we'll go to Yokohama China Town. Funny thing is a lot of the pictures I took while we were out, I took with my phone. The portraits were with my Nikon D750 but the sandwich and Bay Quarter pics were with my phone. The camera in your pocket is still better than no camera at all. See you guys next time. Thanks for checking out the post!
