Tourist Time Adventure with Lucien pt.2
Lucien also does some cosplay. He said that he was looking for what is called ‘gaku-ran’. It’s basically a boy’s school uniform jacket. He was looking for it for a Demon Slayer (鬼滅の刃) cosplay that he wants to do with the main character, Tanjiro.
Now why this is a topic I can’t go to into detail with is because we found a place that would sell him the jacket but generally, student’s uniforms can’t be sold to non-students. I would assume that’s for student safety. Wouldn’t want a non-student trying to blend in and sneak into a school with the official proper uniform right? So you might ask well why doesn’t he just get one that’s not official? I asked him about it and he said the ones you might find in a store are cheap and just don’t move right or they don’t have his size. I’m not a cosplayer so I wouldn’t know. What I do know is that usually cosplayers make their own costumes but he just wanted to buy a real one and with help from Hiro and I we found him the jacket, took him to the store and got a sweet deal on two. The owner of the shop asked that we didn’t post about the shop or show the picture we took of them together so out of respect for the request I’ll hide their identity. If anyone is worried about him having a jacket for a school, he actually got lucky because they had a jacket for a school that changed the design of their uniforms so the jacket he bought is no longer associated with a current school, that uniform is retired. A bit of a win-win. The owner sold a jacket that’s unsellable and he got a jacket that he wouldn’t get anywhere else in the world. Talk about lucky right?
After that, we took him to all the way to Yokohama China town. We spent a lot of time in China Town and as usual it was quite busy.
China town is usually pretty busy all year round. I think with all the influx of tourist, and there may have been a Yokohama Baystars baseball game earlier in the day as well, it wasn't empty. Personally I don't mind the crowd but I for some, it might be a bit overwhelming.
We stopped by a few shops, took a look around for things they he might want to bring to loved ones, got food and then headed to Yamashita Park, which is near by. I posted other pictures on my Instagram so if you’d like to see more, check it out and shoot me a follow.
Yamashita park was actually one of the first places I visited when I came to Yokohama. I had quite an experience there when I fist came. So I love to show this place around. It’s really special to me and one of my favorite spots to chill at.
If you’ve never been to Yokohama I highly recommend it. With the wide streets and the breeze off of the bay it really reminds me of that nice Chicago weather this time of year. Too bad there isn’t any GOOD deep dish pizza here… sigh . Until next post!
